Welcome to BUMP!

The Boston University Marine Program (BUMP) features an interdisciplinary, hands on, reserach-oriented curriculum in Marine Science with courses and faculty from Biology, Earth Sciences, Geography & Environment, and Physics. Once exclusively based at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, the program has returned to BU's Charles River campus and beyond, offering field experiences and coursework in Belize, at the New England Aquarium and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.

BUMP expansion and relocation

Since its inception in 1969, the Boston Universit Marine Program has been located at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Holes, Massachusetts, and had largely focused on the field of marine biology. Starting this year, 2007, BUMP is transitioning into an interdisciplinary program that emphasizes the relationships between marine biology, biogeochemistry, physical oceanography and marine geology in coastal and nearshore environments.

As part of the transition, the program's academic headquarters are now located on BU's main campus along the Charles River in Boston. Our office is now located at:
